How to handle transfer of custodian
1) Start importing data from the new custodian as soon as the first account is moved. You will see the transferred accounts appear in your account list under the new custodian's account numbers.
2) When the new custodian's account record appears in the account list, select the old custodian's account record. Click on the account number once. A "button" will appear. Click on that and edit the record to the new custodian's account number. When the record posts, all of the underlying portfolio data will be transferred to the new account #. Open the portfolio for the new account # to verify that in fact the data was transferred.
3) Delete the old custodian's account record. If any residual data for the old custodian shows up in the transaction blotter, reassign the account number to the new account number, but edit the "Acct Id" field to use the identifier of the old custodian so you know where the data came from.
