This error can occur during installation of the full Captools/net program or during update installation, with the message: "error 1324 the path my documents contains an invalid character".

 

This can occur due to invalid registry entries associated with non-existing folders for "My Documents" and "My Pictures", affecting any installer which looks for those folders (reference: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/894510 ).

 

Resolution: To resolve this one needs to remove paths in the registry pointing to any non-existing folders for "My Documents" and "My Pictures".
