Securities
The Securities records contain information concerning the investment assets contained within account portfolios. Some of the information is relatively static information, such as the security description, and other information, such as security pricing and financial information is dynamic, changing on a regular basis. Accordingly, Captools/net has separated the security information into a number of different record types as follows:
Security ID - Contains static security descriptive information. See Security Ids in the next topic for more details on these records.
Types - These records allow you to define various categories of securities. See Security Types for more details on these records.
Statistics - Contains financial metrics and statistics concerning equity securities, excluding mutual funds This information is typically obtained via scheduled or manually triggered web downloads from third-party sources, or is derived from computations performed on such downloaded data. Accordingly, one should be wary of the timeliness or accuracy of this data. See Security Statistics for more details on these records.
Histories - These are comprised of several types of records, including historical prices, distributions, and financials. These too are typically obtained via web downloads from third-party sources. See Histories for more details on these records.
Source of Data - Security ID records are automatically generated when a new security is entered in the portfolio records. These records are initialized with default values which may need subsequent one-time manual editing. Captools/net is shipped with example security "Types" records which you can use as is, however, you may wish to modify and extend these to set up security categories according to your requirements. Other security records, such as the statistics, fund profiles, and history records are intended to be imported from custodian-provided data (Pro/Enterprise versions), or downloaded (all versions) discussed further below, and in the topic Data Downloads.
